GNU Privacy Guard (GPG) by GNU

GNU Privacy Guard (GPG) offer a free implementation of the OpenPGP standard. It can be use to encrypt and/or sign any files or e-mail. The YubiKey can be use, in static mode, to better protect your private keys; The static password you'll store on the YubiKey will certainly be stronger than anything you could type repetitively.

Also, instead of telling your software to remember the password associated with your private key for a certain amount of time, which you often do because typing a password every time you want to send a new e-mail is tedious, you can now configure it to ask the password every time, and simply press the YubiKey button. You now get better security at a relatively low cost.
